The Onaway Historical Society is dedicated to preserving Onaway, Michigan’s proud history for future generations. We are also planning to renovate the Lobdell Administration Building into our future home.

About the Onaway Historical Museum

Displaying Onaway history through items and stories from its founding in the late 1800s to the present,
The Onaway Historical Museum is located on the first floor of the Onaway Historic Courthouse, located at 20774 State Street. Follow the history of Onaway through its founding to almost  being a county seat, to a factory boom town based on the lumber industry, through desperate times, and finally into a northern Michigan tourist destination

Now displaying items depicting Onaway at the turn of the 20th Century, including a turn-of-the-century schoolroom, military room, doctor's office, typical parlor, and an extensive display of wooden steering wheels from the American Rim Company, aka Lobdell-Emery Wooden Steering Wheel Factory.
